Get started with Instagram Studio
Welcome to Instagram Studio! This guide leads you through the tasks you need to complete to get up and running quickly.
Showing your Instagram feed on your Shopify store helps build trust and social proof by showcasing real customer photos and brand engagement. It enhances your site’s visual appeal with fresh, authentic content that updates automatically, encouraging visitors to connect with your brand on social media. By highlighting user-generated content and lifestyle imagery, you create a more engaging shopping experience that can boost conversions and grow your audience across platforms.

Install Instagram Studio
You can install Instagram Studio from the Shopify App Store.
To install Instagram Studio:
- Log in to the Shopify App Store.
- Go to the Instagram Studio app listing page.
- On the app listing page, click Install.
- In your Shopify admin, to authorize the use of the app, click Install app.
After the app is installed, you can view and use it from the Apps page in your Shopify admin.
Follow the setup guide
When you first open Instagram Studio, you’ll be guided through a quick step-by-step setup that will help you show your Instagram feed on your online store.
The guide walks you through these steps:
- Connect your Instagram account — Allow Instagram Studio permission to read your posts.
- Add the block to your theme — Use Shopify’s theme editor to choose where the feed appears on your store and how your posts are displayed.
You can complete the setup right away, or skip a step and come back to it later. Full instructions for each step are included in this article whenever you're ready.

Connect your Instagram account
Before you can display your Instagram feed on your store, you need allow Instagram to share information with Instagram Studio. This connection is what allows the app to securely read your posts, captions, and basic account details.
Account access is secure and read-only
The connection uses Instagram's official login process. Your password is never stored or shared, and access is strictly read-only. No posts, edits, deletions, or changes can be made to your account.
To connect your Instagram account:
- Go to instagram.com and log in to the account that you'd like to show posts from.
- From your Shopify admin, open Instagram Studio.
Click Connect Instagram.
Follow Instagram's on-screen instructions to allow access, which may include changing to a free professional account (either Business or Creator).
A professional account gives you access to free tools that help you grow your business or followers. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected to third-party apps.
When you reach the Shopify Connect-IG is requesting access step (see the screenshot above), click Allow.
You'll be returned to Instagram Studio and a new feed will be created for your account's media. To show the feed on your online store, add the block to your theme.
If you don't allow access to your account, or if there's a connection error, a feed will not be created and you'll see a Could not connect to Instagram message in Instagram Studio.

Edit the feed settings, then click Save.
Add the block to your theme
The Instagram Studio app block lets you add an Instagram feed exactly where you want to show it on your online store.
The app block can be added as a block in a template section, and as a section in a template.
You can add, remove, reposition, and customize the app block through the theme editor.
To add the app block to your theme:
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme that you want to edit, and then click Customize.
Navigate to the page and section where you want to add the app block.
On the sidebar, click + Add block.
From the drop-down menu, in the Apps section, select the Instagram Feed app block.

Move the block to another location by clicking and dragging the ⋮⋮ icon.

Click Save.
